School garden at the Crêts school in Geneva.

Permaculture comes to school!

In 2023, Graine de Carotte will be helping pupils and teachers at theÉcole des Crêts in Geneva to set up their educational vegetable garden.

A school vegetable garden in the heart of Geneva

A stone’s throw from Les Nations, behind the school, was an area of used lawn which we have transformed into an educational garden.

Throughout the year, 4P students have had the opportunity to learn about the principles of permaculture and living soil gardening.

Comprising 5 sessions, our training program aims to give students an overview of nutrition, food production and the construction and preservation of a biotope..

Teaching students and teachers

Alongside this support for the pupils, we have also offered training for teachers to enable them to quickly become autonomous in terms of the work to be done and the running of a permaculture educational vegetable garden.

The project continues in 2024!

The focus is always on the study of living things, plants and food. But this year, we’re adding the notion of intergenerational mutual aid with the neighboringEMS.

Children will have the opportunity to sow, grow and cook with their elders!

We’ll tell you more soon….

Special thanks to the Geneva schools department and the green spaces department for their human and material support.

And a huge well done to the teachers for their investment in this wonderful project!
